'Market Day'
Inspiration often arrives unannounced. For this painting 'Market Day', it was found years ago in the pages of a magazine at my favorite Mazatlan coffee shop, amid the aroma of a fresh latte. A single black-and-white photo captivated me—a woman of impeccable style and quiet confidence, selecting the best produce at a bustling market. I took the page, and held onto it for some years. After having moved back to Alberta, I came across it in my box of favorite things, and just knew it was time to paint her!
"Market Day" is a tribute to the art of everyday elegance: the sharp eye for quality, the cultivated taste, and the simple, profound pleasure of choosing something beautiful. It's about savouring not just a product, but the entire experience.
